Mallorca film talent takes San Sebastián stage
Mallorca film talent is taking the stage at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where La carn has been selected for the Made in Spain programme. On 24 September, Margarita Amengual of the Mallorca Film Commission joined the presentation with the film’s Mallorcan director Joan Porcel, lead actor Lluís Garau and Charlie Bujosa of producer Mansalva. The commission is part of the Foundation for Responsible Tourism of Mallorca.
New links for Mallorca’s screen sector
Away from the screening, Amengual met representatives of the Spain Film Commission and film commissions from other parts of Spain. The talks covered shared experience, possible joint work and new contacts for Mallorca’s audiovisual industry.
She also met the team behind Mallorca, un receptari, Pablo Bujosa’s documentary selected for the festival’s Culinary Zinema section. The film travels across Mallorca through its food, traditional recipes and local produce. Amengual also attended a professional panel with Spain Film Commission president Juan Manuel Guimeráns, Xiomara García of Film Madrid Region, Jesús Cambra of Pablo de Olavide University and Marta Moretto.
Award-winning La carn reaches the festival
La carn follows a young dancer creating a performance inspired by a platform that randomly connects strangers through video calls. As his online and real lives become entwined, the film explores identity, intimacy, desire and exposure in the digital world.
The film arrives in San Sebastián after winning two awards at the 2026 Málaga Film Festival: the Biznaga de Plata for best Spanish film in the Zonazine section and best actor for Garau. It was also named best Balearic feature at the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest.
The Mallorca Film Commission says its work is aimed at helping productions and shoots on the island while bringing greater visibility to talent and creative work linked to Mallorca. Meetings in San Sebastián are part of its push to build connections with Spanish and international industry bodies.
