Mallorca film festival names Marc Clotet jury chief

Marc Clotet will lead the jury at Palma’s Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival when its 15th edition runs from 28 October to 4 November. The actor and producer appeared in La voz dormida, the film shown at the festival’s first edition.

That makes the appointment a return to the festival where his connection began. Clotet has remained involved as a friend, collaborator and member of its advisory board, according to the festival organisation.

He said taking the jury chair was a challenge he approached with respect and enthusiasm, 15 years after presenting La voz dormida at the first event. Festival founder and director Sandra Lipski said the festival and Clotet’s career had grown alongside one another since their paths first crossed in 2012.

Clotet’s first cinema role was in Benito Zambrano’s La voz dormida, which brought him a Goya nomination for best new actor. He has since worked in film, television and theatre in Spain and internationally.

In 2021, he set up Funicular Films with Aina Clotet, Marta Baldó and Jan Andreu. Its work includes Esto no es Suecia, winner of the Prix Europa for best European series, and Viva, selected for Critics’ Week at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

The festival has also unveiled its new poster. Graphic designer Olaf Meyer, who has created Emiff posters since its third edition, puts a crab at the centre of the 2026 design. It completes a run of Balearic sea-life images, following a flying fish in 2024 and an octopus in 2025.

Over its eight days, the Palma festival is set to bring together independent filmmakers, artists, industry professionals and audiences from different countries.
