Palma, Mallorca, puts new music alongside classic films: the ME_MMIX festival runs from 12 to 22 November 2026, with concerts, talks and a tribute to writer and film director Pier Paolo Pasolini. This is the eighth edition of the Festival of Experimental Arts and Advanced Music. Artistic director Mateu Malondra says he wants to reach a wide range of people by bringing together musicians who work in different styles.

Films with new scores

Violinist Irvine Arditti opens the festival on 12 November. The next day, Austrian group Ensemble Phace performs alongside a screening of La ciudad sin judíos at Palma’s Teatre Principal, with music by Olga Neuwirth and Nacho de Paz as musical director.

On 14 November, Mallorca hears the full 50-minute version of Entre Feldman for the first time. The work by Niño de Elche and Héctor Cavallaro has previously been heard only in excerpts in A Coruña and Madrid. Artist Albert Pinya joins the performance live, alongside musicians from the Balearic Symphony Orchestra.

On Thursday 19 November, saxophonist Xabier Casal performs with electronic music. Joan Miquel Oliver, Joana Gomila and Laia Vallès also give a concert accompanied by images from Javier Lerín.

Pasolini, then techno

On Saturday, the festival turns to Pasolini at Es Baluard Museu. Grupo Enigma presents a work based on his novel Petrolio, created by Asier Pueda with music by Carles de Castellarnau.

Electronic music follows, with Hor-G and Alba Vinton performing alongside visuals by Catalina Coromina. Barolec and INTRVL then play a techno session. The day closes with a DJ set by Selin Kaya at the Terreno Barrio Hotel.
