Mallorca: Miró Foundation opens three Nit de l’Art shows

Three new art projects open at the Fundación Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma, Mallorca, at 19.00 on Friday, the eve of Nit de l’Art. Works by Pedro Torres, Isabel Servera and Carlos Casas will be spread across the foundation and remain on show until 11 April.

The openings form part of Palma’s programme for the 2026 Nit de l’Art, which takes place on Saturday.

Light and palm craft

In the Espai Cúbic, Brazilian artist Pedro Torres presents Jora, an installation shaped by its setting at the foundation. Torres, who lives in Barcelona, builds the work from his observation of light in and around the site, using media including sound, video and photography.

Mallorcan artist Isabel Servera brings Alenades to the Espai Zero. The installation and sculpture project draws on the traditional Llevant Mallorca craft of making baskets from palm material. Servera also lives in Barcelona.

Films fill the auditorium

Barcelona filmmaker Carlos Casas shows two immersive films, Cementery and Bestiari, in the auditorium. The films use image and sound in works rooted in documentary cinema, creating environments intended to stir the viewer’s senses.

Casas has previously presented work at festivals in Shanghai, Bangkok, Istanbul and Rotterdam, as well as at the Venice Biennale, where Bestiari was shown recently.

Palma City Council is also opening exhibitions by Rebeca Morey and Bel Fullana at Casal Solleric, while Fabián Schalekamp’s El cor del bosc is on view at Espai Cor.
