In Palma, Mallorca, music students and other interested people can join flute and percussion masterclasses at the Balearic Islands Higher Conservatory of Music on 15 and 16 October. The conservatory is opening its masterclasses to the public from this academic year. Anyone who is not a student there must register by email beforehand and say which class they want to attend.

Mallorcan flautist Eduard Belmar, principal flute with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, teaches from 10.00 to 13.00 on both days. Participants can work with him on flute technique and interpretation.

Percussionist Peter Johan Prommel teaches from 09.00 to 13.00 on the first day. He taught orchestral percussion and timpani at the Detmold music college from 1998. In recent years, he has focused on helping musicians prepare mentally for auditions and demanding performances.

The conservatory says the classes will add to its regular teaching and bring Balearic musicians into contact with experienced professionals.
