Palma Nit de l’Art marks 30 years with 50-plus shows

Palma’s Nit de l’Art brings more than 50 exhibitions and over 100 artists to Mallorca as the art night marks its 30th year. Sixteen galleries from Art Palma Contemporani are staging shows, performances and special events in Palma, Andratx, Pollença and Santanyí. The programme also includes free guided tours in several languages, concerts and gatherings at cultural venues across the island.

The event began in 1997 as an initiative from the gallery world. It now brings galleries, museums, institutions and cultural spaces into the same night, with artists, professionals, collectors and the public among those taking part.

From galleries to Palma’s cultural venues

Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani, Fundació Miró Mallorca, Fundación Juan March, CaixaForum Palma, Casal Solleric, Can Balaguer, La Llotja, La Misericòrdia, Museu de Mallorca and Museu de Pollença are all involved. iGallery has joined the network of partner venues.

Palma City Council has its own programme at Casal Solleric, Can Balaguer, Fundació Miró Mallorca and Espai Cor. At Casal Solleric, Rebeca Morey Pérez, a Fine Arts student at Adema and this year’s Nous Talents winner, has opened her project curated by Biel Amer. Bel Fullana’s installation Club Miseria: The Last Beat, curated by Tolo Cañellas, takes over the courtyard, showcase and loggia.

Can Balaguer has extended its opening hours for the temporary exhibitions The House and the Forest and Gaudí, impressions íntimes.

Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Mallorca opened its new projects on Friday, with visits available until 11 April. Pedro Torres presents Jora, an installation made for the venue that explores alabaster, water and light, in Espai Cúbic. Mallorcan artist Isabel Servera shows Alenades in Espai Zero, while the Auditori screens Carlos Casas’s immersive films Cemetery (2019) and Bestiari (2025).

Art, music and dance at La Misericòrdia

The Consell de Mallorca has added its own programme at La Misericòrdia, Palau Reial and Museu de Mallorca. Italian artist Fabrizio Plessi’s Digital Splash is at Museu de Mallorca, while Català Roig’s De la terra al Cel is shown in La Misericòrdia’s chapel.

At La Misericòrdia, Nora Ancarola presents La herida de la lengua in the ground-floor room of the building between courtyards. The adjoining Aljub rooms host Vicenç Mulet’s Vacíos: espacios para la mirada.

The Pati de les Dones features Alejandro Monge’s The Last Nomad, Anna Belen’s States of Matter, States of Mind, and Nuevo Orden by Nieves Guri and Marcos Juncal. The programme also includes Puntos de origen by Pep Manresa and Joan Antoni Molina’s photographic project Retratos. Una re-mirada fotográfica a la escena musical de Mallorca [1999-2001].

Trio Fishermanfriends, The Pilgrims and DJ Niko Bellotto provide music at La Misericòrdia. Fiblada performs its dance piece Waltzing Matilda in the Aljub, organised by Teatre Principal de Palma.

At Palau Reial, the Consell’s art collection supplies the sculptures Cruz by Horario Sampere, Parasitando by Manuel Calvo and Niu by Pep Llambías. Pianists Ander Artetxe and Aleix Artetxe, Blanca Aguado and Pablo García Aguilera complete the night’s programme.
