Live orchestra music reaches children in Mallorca hospital

At Son Espases University Hospital on Mallorca, young patients and their families hear live music on Tuesday, 13 October. Musicians from the Balearic Symphony Orchestra begin visits to the paediatric unit, bringing their instruments close enough for children to see them and playing music suited to the hospital space.

The visits are part of La música también acompaña, a project intended to make hospital stays more pleasant, the Balearic Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport says. The orchestra plans to return one Tuesday each month from October 2026 to March 2027, from 16.00 to 17.00.

The EducaJoy association started the project through its agreement with the Balearic Health Service, IBSalut. The Balearic Symphony Orchestra Foundation sponsors it.
