Palma shopping streets: music and circus arrive

Flash mobs, charangas and circus parades will move through Palma, Mallorca’s shopping streets from Thursday to Saturday, starting with a 16.00 flash mob at Passeig des Born. The Viu Palma campaign is designed to draw people into independent shops. It is backed by the Association of Small and Medium Commerce of Mallorca (Pimeco), Palma City Council and PalmaActiva.

The roaming programme also includes xeremiers, performing across the city’s main retail areas. Organisers want residents and visitors to spend time in the streets and shop locally.

Thursday starts at Passeig des Born

The opening flash mob begins at 16.00 on Passeig des Born. More will follow from 17.00 to 19.00 at Plaça d'Espanya, Plaça Major, Plaças del Mercat and the Ramblas.

From 17.00 to 18.30, charangas will pass through Nuredduna, Sindicat and Carrer Velázquez, while xeremiers will perform in Oms, Sant Miquel, Jaume II and Sant Domingo. A circus parade is scheduled for Plaça París from 18.00 to 19.30.

More events on Friday and Saturday

Friday brings flash mobs to Plaça d'Espanya, Plaça del Mercat and the Ramblas from 17.00 to 19.00. A circus parade will travel through Nuredduna, Sindicat, Jaume II and Sant Nicolau between 18.00 and 19.30, while charangas appear in Argenteria, Sant Miquel and Oms and xeremiers perform at Plaça Madrid.

On Saturday, xeremiers will move through Sindicat, Colom, Jaume III and Plaça d'Espanya from 17.00 to 18.30. A final parade will take in Plaça d'Espanya, Plaça Major and Plaça del Mercat.
