Florit is a carpintero de ribera, a craftsperson who builds and repairs wooden boats. He learnt from master craftsman Jaume Cifre and joined the Mallorca Island Council’s Taller de Mestres d’Aixa in the late 1990s, when the workshop was restoring La Balear, a boat designated a cultural heritage asset.

Florit now runs the workshop. Alongside building and restoring traditional boats, he records historic designs and techniques using digital tools and shares the craft through educational projects. The Palma event is part of Las artes y los oficios, a series devoted to traditional skills and how they are passed on.
