Palma Pop Rock contest offers €3,000 prize
Palma singers and bands have until the 21st to enter the city’s Pop Rock contest, with €3,000 on offer for the strongest live performance. Each act must upload two original songs through the Palma Cultura portal. The deadline has been open since Tuesday, Palma City Council said on Wednesday.
Both the music and lyrics must be original, and neither track can run for more than six minutes. The contest is intended to support emerging creators from Palma and across the Balearic Islands.
From recordings to the final concert
A professional technical panel will assess all entries and pick 16 recordings for the first stage. The selected singers and groups are expected to play live at professional music venues in the second half of October.
The panel will then choose five finalists. They will perform one of their two submitted songs at a final concert in November.
Live fees and entry rules
The five finalists will also compete for bookings at Sant Sebastià celebrations or gala events in municipal theatres. The three best live acts, chosen by the judging panel, will receive fees of €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000.
At least one member of every entered group must live in the Balearic Islands. Groups picked in previous editions cannot enter, while at least 50 per cent of groups must include a woman.
