Free Rels B concert brings major security to Palma
Palma is preparing a major security and emergency operation for Rels B’s free concert on Friday, starting at 21.30 near Parc de la Mar and the Paseo Marítimo. Local police, firefighters, medical teams and privately hired security staff will cover the event. The Consell de Mallorca expects a large turnout, with free entry available until capacity is reached.
The Mallorca-born artist, Daniel Heredia, performs as part of the Diada de Mallorca programme. The concert comes a day before he is formally named Hijo Predilecto de Mallorca on 12 September.
Police, firefighters and medical teams
The Consell de Mallorca has coordinated the operation with Palma City Council, Palma Local Police, Palma Fire Brigade and other emergency services. Private security contracted by the island council and medical staff will remain on duty throughout the concert.
Rafel Bosch, the island councillor for Finance, Innovation and Public Service, said the services would work together to keep the night “safe and calm”. Officials met at the Palau Reial to finalise the arrangements.
More buses and trains, plus a towering stage
Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca and EMT will run more frequent services for concertgoers. Palma Local Police and EMT are also preparing a special traffic operation for the coming days.
More than 350 professionals will work on the technical production. The stage will stand over 16 metres high, alongside six 12-metre towers carrying sound and lighting equipment. More than 300 square metres of screens are planned, including side screens for views across the site.
