Rels B free concert draws 40,000-plus in Palma

More than 40,000 people gathered at Parc de la Mar in Palma as Rels B played a free concert with the Cathedral behind him. The Mallorca-born artist, whose real name is Daniel Heredia, performed as part of the Diada de Mallorca celebrations.

He moved through different stages of his career, from his early work to the releases that have made him an international name in urban music. The Consell de Mallorca, which organised the concert, said people had travelled to Palma from across the island.

The night also gave Heredia the chance to share news of his appointment as Mallorca’s Favourite Son, known locally as Hijo Predilecto de Mallorca. The honour is due to be made official on Saturday.
