Two school concerts bring Balearic orchestra to Formentera

Two performances bring the Balearic Symphony Orchestra to the Sala de Cultura on Formentera on 23 September for the island’s schools. A string quartet and Mallorcan mezzo-soprano Laura de la Fuente lead the concerts, which begin at 09.30 and 11.00. The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports announced the programme.

The music opens with El cant de la Sibil·la before moving to the Intermezzo and Voi lo sapete, o mamma from Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, among other pieces.

The programme crosses different styles, periods and musical traditions from Europe and the Balearic Islands. It is part of the orchestra’s work to bring live music and professional musicians closer to children and young people across the islands.
