Palma theatre festival ends with four final shows
Four shows remain at Teatre Sans in Palma, Mallorca: the independent theatre festival ends on Sunday, 8 November. Its final run begins on Thursday with a concert performance mixing hard rock, blues and opera. Before then, performers have a workshop on Tuesday.
Four shows before Sunday
Concha Vidal opens the final programme at 20.30 on Thursday with Battlefield, a tribute to nature that also draws on experimental music. At 20.30 on Friday, 6 November, Menorcan actor Rodo Gener brings La Teoria dels Gilipolles to the stage, taking aim at the absurd things people do every day.
On Saturday at 18.00, Catalan company Teatre Nu presents L'ombra de l'alzina, a friendship story about a holm oak that has watched the world change over centuries. Xeixa closes the festival at 19.00 on Sunday with I tu, què esperes? Two people meet in a waiting room, where unexpected news changes everything.
A workshop before the finale
The 11th International Showcase of Independent and Alternative Theatre (Mitia) also has two professional events this week. Monday’s talk covered how the Alternative Theatres Network works and the opportunities it offers to distribute productions. On Tuesday, Vidal leads a workshop exploring the body and its expressive possibilities from 17.30 to 20.30.
Mitia began on 2 October. This edition has brought companies from the Balearics, elsewhere in Spain, England and Italy to Teatre Sans.
