Mallorca Cathedral adds Ukrainian audio guide

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca’s La Seu cathedral in Palma now lets Ukrainian-speaking visitors hear about its history and art in their own language. The cathedral presented the new audio guide on 12 October 2026, and it is available permanently. The Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the Balearic Islands proposed the project for Ukrainians who live on Mallorca or visit it.

The route has not changed. Visitors can listen as they explore the old sacristy, bell tower, main nave, chapels, archive, choir and organ. A separate route takes in the cathedral terraces, with views of Palma, the bay and the Serra de Tramuntana.

Guests tried the Ukrainian guide inside La Seu during a free visit for the presentation. Ukraine’s consul general in Barcelona, Olena Tronina, said the language had become part of the country’s resistance during the war. Cathedral canon Pere Oliver Vives welcomed the chance for visitors from Ukraine to discover La Seu’s history and art in their own language.
