Climate in Colònia de Sant Pere — the quiet northeast coast in the Artà area
Colònia de Sant Pere is a small coastal village in the municipality of Artà, set along a calm bay on the northeast coast. The place sees little tourist traffic but is popular with Mallorcan families. Its climate follows the north-coast pattern: wetter than the south, and in autumn shaped by the more exposed position facing the Mediterranean.
Precipitation figures, based on proxy data from the Alcúdia region (roughly 20 km to the west), average around 607 mm per year — well above the AEMET Palma figure of 449 mm. Autumn Mediterranean low-pressure systems can hit the northeast coast more directly than the western side, which is buffered by the Tramuntana. November is the wettest month, with around 89 mm.
Summers are warm: daytime highs reach around 32°C, with a July daily average of around 26°C. In July, average rainfall is just around 11 mm. The northeast coast regularly receives a cooling northeast sea breeze in summer, making beach days genuinely pleasant. Colònia de Sant Pere has a flat, sheltered bay — ideal for families.
Sea temperatures off the northeast coast sit at around 25°C in July and around 26°C in August. In October the water is still comfortable at around 23°C, keeping this stretch of coast an attractive destination well into autumn.
Winters are mild. The daily average in January is around 11°C. The coastal, sea-level location keeps frost at bay.
For comparative information, see Artà Weather and Betlem Weather. Sea temperatures are available at Mallorca Water Temperature.
Note on data sources: Colònia de Sant Pere has no dedicated AEMET climate-normal station. The figures are based on proxy data from Alcúdia (~20 km, T3-Aggregator). The AEMET station B228 (1981–2010) was used for comparisons with Palma.
