The municipality serves as the administrative center for the coastal towns of Sa Coma and Cala Millor — a coastline whose climate differs considerably from that of the municipal area itself. The town center lies a few kilometers inland, but its flat terrain and short distance from the sea (roughly 5–7 km) give it a climate that falls somewhere between a pure inland climate and a direct coastal one.
